UFC and Dana White stand behind Antisemitic Hitler worshipping Bryce Mitchell

And yes I know Dana White came out saying that he thinks Mitchell’s comments ("… Bryce Mitchell on his podcast where he defended Adolf Hitler, denied the holocaust happened and took aim at both the LGBTQ+ and Jewish communities…") were “dumb and ignorant” and overall as ESPN pointed out White “condemned” Michtell’s comments (UFC’s White: Bryce Mitchell’s Hitler comments ‘dumb, ignorant’).

But, this is another case of someone (Dana White) not understanding what Free Speech means. Now Mitchell has every right to say stupid, and I would go way further and call it disgusting and horribly ignorant, rather than just dumb and ignorant, but hey we all have different yardsticks. Certainly, nobody infringed on Mitchell’s free speech, he was able to utter this stupidity on a podcast, and as far as I know, nobody took down his podcast. But what White doesn’t get is that by being part of the UFC Mitchell represents the UFC (just like any salesperson at any store represents that store), and by just brushing aside this hate speech as “dumb” without any consequences, that hate speech has now been condoned by the UFC. Yes, White says those that think this is hate speech can delight themselves if Mitchell gets his “ass whooped on national TV.” But what if he wins his next fight. Then what?

So at the end of the day, the UFC and Dana White stand by one of the people who represents their organization and who has uttered lies and hate speech, without any repercussions by the organization, which no matter what White says, means that the UFC is absolutely ok being represented by such disgusting people. And so, for me the UFC and Dana White, no matter what they say, are agreeing with Mitchell’s hate speech – because as any UFC fan should know, its actions, not words, that matter.
