The government has many functions. Infrastructure, safety and security are among the commonly agreed on key functions. With the US being a brand in addition to being a country, brand management is another key and high,y beneficial function. Doge said it would focus on making government efficient. Ok great. All for that. But just getting rid of functions has ZERO to do with efficiency. That’s just cutting. This is like saying you want to lose weight and you start to cut of limbs.
Closing embassies in Africa as Trump is planning to do will not only have security implications for the US (less intelligence coming in), as well as soft power implications. But it will also have economic implications. It will result in US companies having less access to foreign markets because companies will be less willing to send staff to countries without embassies since it increases risk to them and their employees.
Trump will cut China tariffs after China retaliated. Trump idiots will claim this is a brilliant move right out of the Art of the Deal. Baseline sane people will realize Trump is a big pussy who just gave in … just like he did with Ukraine yesterday. It’s the week of worst outcomes for the US.
Anyone, but especially any Jew, who knows anything about the Holocaust should be up absolutely outraged at the way the Trump administration is dealing with refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants in general. You might not be in a flight to El Salvador but how do you know you won’t be next?
If Trump and Republicans would be serious on immigration then they could solve most of it in a heartbeat … arrest and throw those in jail that hire illegal immigrants. Pretty easy. But hey arresting white men is not the TV clip they are interested in.
One question for Trump and his morons … they want to bring all manufacturing back … ok, who is supposed to manufacture all of this? Tshirts, shoes, iPhones, little trinkets … all of this. Apple has thousands building iPhones alone.
Countries trying to negotiate with Trump should remember that he negotiated amazibg and wonderful deals with Canada, Mexico, and South Korea during his last administration. What did those deals mean to him? Nothing. And so will any deals he negotiates now.
And there I thought these guys were so smart. These guys are all vocal Trump supporters. And no, these idiotic tariffs are not a surprise. Just makes you wonder what these Wall Street morons thought would happen? Tax cuts for the wealthy and nothing else?
I assume most people would say that Argentina’s economy over the last 50 years wasn’t a big success. Well Trump decided it was time for the US to emulate Argentina’s closed market economy.
So Trump touts that he wants to bring manufacturing back to the US as the underlying reason for the tariff shitshow. But now he has all these calls with countries to strike “deals”. What is it? Is it a long term plan around manufacturing or is it just a ploy to bully some countries into making a deal with him that will end up making foreign made stuff cheaper and make it less likely to bring manufacturing back.
If Trump is good at something, it is tanking the stock market. In general, it looks like Republicans are pretty good at that, considering that 2008 happened under Bush.
So how is bitcoin a gold like alternative investment? Stocks goes down, gold goes up … bitcoins goes down. Seems like bitcoin is just another gambling product.
Trump’s tariffs are utter stupidity. Ok so he wants to bring manufacturing back to the US. Great. But tariffs will increase inflation, drive a recession, lead to unemployment… all of which will make relocation of manufacturing less likely. Also do Americans want to be the sweat shop of the world? So all this will lead to is economic suicide. Good job president.
