Bannon, Trump and the MAGA billionaires love to talk about bringing well paying jobs back to the US. That they want to reverse the “globalization curse”. But they don’t talk about the fact that their own lot, Trump, billionaires, and Bannon all built their wealth on the shoulders of the working poor. It is them that are the reason for the working poor not the Chinese or Mexicans they try to blame.
In the Newsom interview with Bannon and in many Trump interviews and rants a common complaint is that other countries “have taken advantage” of the US. One thing they never provide are examples. It sounds bad but how have those countries taken advantage of the US? Have they done so by providing cheap labor to US companies and consumers? Is it by being allies that stood by the US through the Cold War and the post 9/11 wars? Yes Europe isn’t buying US made cars but that is not because they take advantage of the US, it is because US made cars are too big and too gas guzzling.
The problem with Newsom’s podcast interview with Bannon is not that Newsom spoke to him, the problem is that he didn’t push back with facts. Bannon was able to spread his lies unchecked … starting with 2020 election and going with idiotic tax and economic views. If Newsom brings in contrarian views he needs to be prepared and be prepared to push back.
Conor McGregor … a convicted fellon … rants about immigration leading to Ireland losing its “Irishness” (whatever that means) … and he does so from Washington DC where he is an immigrant himself. A country which had anti Irish immigrant protests in the past. Let that sink in.
The guy who thought that people screaming “Jews will not replace us” were good people … is now bullying universities to fight antisemitism. Let that sink in …
So far Trump 2.0 can only be described as the biggest, active wealth destruction … ever. Recession, inflation … here we come.
So far the only thing that Trump has made great, has been Canada we will survive

The US used to side with the bullied, not the bully. With the David, not the Goliath. With democracies, not totalitarian strong men. Trump has changed that. The US is now no longer different from Russia, China, or other countries trampling on those seeking freedom. A shameful day.

Many empires have crumbled. But I can’t recall one crumbling without external drivers, but solely by its own doing. The Romans had all kinds of enemies breaching their borders, so did the Persians, the Ottomans, the Aztec’s … the US under Trump had no equal, no one breaching or even trying to breach their borders. Its economy was the strongest. And then the country decided to just throw it all away.
To call Trump’s MAGA US a banana republic feels kind of wrong. Most banana republic’s tried to at least hide the corruption. But the out in the open corruption from Elon to crypto criminals and sex traffickers is just way beyond any banana republic.
